Beginner Course · Class 1 of 6What is Digital Marketing? The Complete Map
⏱ 20 min read · 🃏 flashcards · 📝 8-question quiz
Digital marketing is the practice of promoting a brand, product or service through online channels — search engines, social media, email, video, websites and paid ads. Unlike a newspaper ad, everything online is measurable: you can see exactly how many people saw your message, clicked it, and became customers.
The 8 pillars you will master in this academy
- SEO (Search Engine Optimization) — getting free traffic from Google by ranking your pages.
- SMO (Social Media Optimization) — building audiences on Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), LinkedIn and your blog.
- Video marketing — growing and promoting a YouTube channel.
- Paid advertising — Google Ads and Meta Ads that bring instant, targeted traffic.
- E-commerce promotion — selling products online and driving buyers to them.
- Lead generation — collecting interested prospects with tools like LinkedIn Sales Navigator, HubSpot and Salesforce.
- Automation & AI — using tools like Zapier, n8n and AI assistants to do the repetitive work for you.
- Branding & sales — the strategy layer that turns clicks into a business.
Organic vs. paid
Organic traffic (SEO, social posts, YouTube) is "free" but takes time and consistent effort. Paid traffic (Google/Meta Ads) is instant but stops the moment you stop paying. Successful businesses use both: paid for speed, organic for long-term stability.
